The Temporary site type was introduced to allow auditors to document temporary worksites in the Site Sampling Summary without affecting the permanent site's sampling calculations. This change reflects audit methodology changes, where temporary worksites may be visited during an audit but are not considered permanent operating locations for determining the minimum number of required sites.
What is a Temporary Site?
A Temporary site is a short-term work location, such as a construction project, rig, or field site. These locations often change throughout the year and are not considered part of an organization's permanent site inventory.
Adding a site as Temporary allows the auditor to record the location in the site list and that the location was visited and included in any relevant evidence gathering during the audit.
Why don't Temporary Sites count toward "Sites Included"?
The minimum site sampling requirements are based on an organization's permanent sites, such as Head Office and Fixed locations.
Because Temporary sites are not permanent operating locations, they are intentionally excluded from the Sites Included calculation.
Specifically auditors cannot satisfy the minimum sampling requirements by visiting only temporary worksites.
As a result:
Temporary sites appear in the Site Sampling Summary.
Temporary sites increase the Total Sites listed.
Temporary sites do not increase the Sites Included count.
Temporary sites do not count towards the minimum number of permanent sites that must be visited.
This is expected system behavior.
Should auditors still visit Temporary Sites?
Yes. Auditors are encouraged to visit temporary worksites whenever they provide valuable evidence for the audit. Recording these visits gives a more complete picture of the organization's operations while keeping the formal site sampling calculations aligned with requirements.
When should I use the Temporary site type?
Use the Temporary site type whenever the location is a short-term worksite that should be documented as part of the audit but should not be treated as a permanent site for sampling purposes.
