To obtain the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO®) designation, students must either complete a COR® audit within their organization as the internal auditor within the past 12 months or complete the IHSA-NCSO® audit. The IHSA-NCSO® audit protocol closely aligns with the IHSA COR 2020 protocol, differing only in elements 2, 4, 8, and 10.

Tips for completing the IHSA-NCSO® audit

For the Audit Purpose, instead of Certification / Maintenance / Renewal, the only option is 'NCSO Student Audit'.

For the Auditor Role, the student needs to select ‘Internal’ and can leave the Auditor Certification Number blank.

The NCSO® audits only require the minimum site/workers: 1 site, 2 workers, and 1 manager. In the Site Sampling page, these are the numbers that the students will input.

In the Cover Page, the students can select the ‘Fill' buttons to fill the fields with the pre-defined information only if they do not have that information from their company.

For the signatories, auditors that do not have an active company will input the pre-defined values. In Employment Status Attestation and Code of Ethics, the company contact from the pre-defined company information can be input, i.e. Sam Smithers ([email protected]).

Certificates

The auditor will not be required to upload a certificate for the senior management representative; they can upload their own training certificate on the COR Training Certificates page.

Management Corrective Action Plan

The student can select ‘Document is not applicable’ in this section if they do not have corrective action plan from a previous audit.
